What this is
A weekday briefing on military technology, written for people who need the signal rather than the feed.
MILTECH BRIEF reads the defence press, official announcements, procurement notices, research publications, and open-source reporting through the weekday — then sends you three short issues a day, six to ten stories each, summarised in a few sentences with a link to the original reporting.
We are curators, not a newsroom. Every story links to and credits the journalists who reported it. What we add is selection, context, and a consistent editorial eye — including a European vantage point on rearmament, Ukraine's innovation cycle, and EU procurement that US-centric outlets tend to under-cover.
Who's behind this
MILTECH BRIEF is put together by a small desk in Lisbon: a public methodology and a pipeline that does the reading so the judgment can stay sharp. If we've earned it, the best thing you can do is forward an issue to one person who'd read it; if we haven't, reply and say why — the desk reads every reply.
Editorial policy
Attribution. Every item names and links its original source. We do not republish or rewrite other outlets' reporting as our own.
AI assistance. Automated tools monitor our sources, cluster the day's reporting, and draft each issue. Weekday issues publish three times a day (morning, midday, evening). A human editor reviews every issue — before or shortly after it goes out — and edits or corrections are made prominently. Every item carries a sourcing-confidence grade, and grades are only ever downgraded, never inflated.
Independence. Nobody buys their way into story selection. If paid placements ever exist, they will be clearly labelled — none do today.
Scope. We cover technology, industry, and procurement. We do not publish information that is not already public, and we are mindful that this domain demands accuracy over speed.
