US forces strike IRGC targets across Iran; Iran retaliates against US sites in Gulf
US forces carried out a wave of strikes against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets inside Iran, hitting air defense sites, radar systems, maritime assets and other military facilities. Iran launched retaliatory attacks on US sites across the Middle East the following day. At least four people were killed and 35 wounded when a US strike hit a home hosting a wedding ceremony in southern Iran, according to a provincial official.
Why it matters: The widest US strike inside Iran in years—and the wedding casualties—threaten to pull European forces into a regional escalation they've tried to avoid.
