Ukraine's Kramatorsk plant warns Bohdana howitzer production may halt without new state contract
The Kramatorsk Heavy Machine-Tool Building Plant, maker of Ukraine's Bohdana self-propelled howitzer, told Oboronka it has not received a state order in nine months and may have to furlough workers if a new contract does not arrive soon. The plant is Ukraine's top artillery manufacturer and the warning points to procurement coordination breakdowns inside Kyiv's defence establishment.
Why it matters: Ukraine can field homemade howitzers but can't keep its own production line funded — a procurement failure that would be inexplicable in wartime if it weren't so predictable.
